Molly's home for the summer!

Well we headed over to NH today and picked up Molly after her last final.  I can't believe her freshman year is complete!  She did great and we are soooo proud of her!  She got the word the other day that she got the job in the OR!  She's very excited!  Hospital orientation is only twice a month and the first is when we'll be in Arizona so she will start on May 23rd.  It's per diem but she will train full time over the summer.  Good starting pay also and great experience and a foot in the door if she is interested in OR nursing.

The malibu was inspected but just barely the other day.  Apparently the frame is very rusted and worn underneath.  John went to Alderman's the next day after work and drove a 3 year old impala and it was cherry.  He worked out a deal with them and brought it home the next day.  It's got lots of safety factors, side airbags, 3 years full warranty left and only 26000 miles.  It's got 6 months of onstar and xm radio for free!  Drives like a dream, very quiet, good mileage and like I said before SAFE!  I feel much better about her going back and forth over the mountain in a newer car and it will be more reliable when she starts her clinical rotation.  I want one now!  My truck has 132,000 miles and is 7 years old!  Still going strong though, hopefully for another year at least.  Vermont winters are very hard on vehicles.

Next week will start getting packed for our trip.  Getting excited!  Here are some pictures of Easter dinner at Carol's.  The kids had a great time doing a scavenger hunt.

Can't believe it's April 23rd!

Yesterday was a nice day for a change, sunny and about 50 degrees....reasonable.  We woke up to snow showers and 34 degrees today.  Rainy and raw all day long.  Kacee is cold and miserable, had to go down to Sue's and get her rain sheet to help keep her dry.  (She could go in the barn but chooses not to)

Molly is working hard on her English final exam research paper.  (American Poetry...yuck!  Not sure what that has to do with nursing!)  She finished her Art project final the other day. (Another core course)  Next week is her last week!  Last exam a week from today.  I actually found someone to work for me so I can help bring home her stuff.  Can't believe her first year is over!!!

Molly had her interview at the hospital yesterday...she thinks it went well.  Very exciting, they took her into the OR and she actually was able to peak in on cases.  According to Sue the head nurse was very impressed and she thinks she'll get the job.  I guess they have one more person to interview so hopefully she'll hear next week.  You never know!!

Tomorrow we are invited to Carol's for Easter dinner.  Looking forward to it!  Martha will be there along with Carol's girls.  Maybe will see Jeff and Jacob too.  Tom was invited but Carol said he's not coming...going to the races somewhere!

I've had this week off.  Enjoyed cleaning out my perennial beds.  Some stupid deer ate all my tulips already.  I bought a bag of bulbs last fall at Costco's....oh well.

Two weeks from today we will be headed to NH and fly out the following morning to Arizona.  Looking forward to it!  I've never been to Arizona and it will be nice to see Mom and Rich and Nancy again.  It will be Molly's first plane ride too!

Forgot about celebrating Molly's 19th birthday.  She had a great day.

Also had a chance to go down to Shawn's and ride Ansel.  We went for a great trail ride and he was perfect.  Molly rode him too...I can't wait to bring him home.  The only thing I had to buy was a large girth and a fly mask for a warmblood size horse.  I was so pleased with our ride.  Sometimes the first ride of the spring can be interesting as they are feeling good.  He was perfect...calm, no spookiness...I'm very happy!

Homemade chicken noodle soup and baked sweet potatoes for dinner tonight.  Hope it will warm us up!

March 26th, 2011

We had a nice weekend with Molly home.  She visited with her best friend Allyssa on Saturday for Allyssa's birthday and then spent most of her free time studying Anatomy and Physiology.  Lots of memorizing...muscles and how they work.  They are dissecting cats now.  We made chicken macaroni and cheese and ate before she left to go back.  (Also sent her back with a bowl for tonight)  Can't believe she will be 19 on Saturday!  Only 5 more weeks of college left, freshman year almost done!  Next year she will actually get some basic nursing courses.  They do their room draw this week for rooms next year.  Hopefully she can either room with 1 room mate (Brenna who is going to Australia for first semester) or perhaps get a single.  4 girls in one tiny room is too much!  She's not working at the Benson Store this summer...guess he hired someone's sister and an old employee is returning to town.  I don't think their business is doing so well.  It seems very quiet when you drive by.  Perhaps this summer.

even more pictures...

Decided to snowshoe across the road to check on my neighbor Nick that bought Mom and Dad's old house.  He still wasn't plowed out...I think someone's going to have to come with big equipment to get his driveway cleared.  He was fine...had actually shoveled some of his walkway (not bad at 89 years old!)  I ended up snowshoeing to his garage to get him some ice cream out of his freezer.  It actually is nice snowshoeing.  Molly and I are headed out shortly to check out the deer beds behind the house.  John is off to the dentist's getting a cleaning and a filling I believe.  My boss emailed that anyone that wants to come in extra to provide support to staffing during the getting used to phase of our new electronic medical can.  It's been quite an adjustment...lots of long waits and frustration.  Patients and family members have not been happy.  Each day has been better, but I find 12 hours of computer charting rough...especially when there are lots of bugs still.  Oh well, Change is hard!!!
