Well our hay was ready on the hottest day of the year...400 bales...and to make a long story short the last load went bad! Apparently baled a bit green, Molly's mare who has respiratory issues anyway was in pretty severe distress. We ended up giving her steroids, (orally as you can't give her a shot). She was better for a while, but continues to breath hard, rates in the 40's. So....sadly we have decided to have her put down. We know she isn't herself, not comfortable, grumpy all the time. She actually dumped Molly last week, who was only riding her lightly in the meadow. It's hard...but we don't want her to suffer or be uncomfortable. I'd hate to sell her to Pond Hill and have her die out in a meadow this winter eating a crappy round bale.
Molly did ride my Ansel the other day...she makes him look soooo good! We'll find another horse that needs a good home and will be fun to ride. I really miss just going for a nice enjoyable trail ride.
