Molly arrived home yesterday for a visit this weekend. We decided to go applepicking at Shoreham Orchards as we do every year. It was a beautiful fall day, sunny and crisp. The trees are loaded with apples. We came home with Macs, Gala, and Honey Crisps. They are all delicious. Hopefully will make some apple crisp today or tomorrow. We stopped at the farm store and got a little pie for tonight and some homemade cider donuts and fudge. Molly will be taking back a variety of apples for her roomies. We also drove up to see the renovations on the Crown Point Bridge. (That's the bridge between NY and Vt that was blown up this spring as it was unsafe. Now the states have 2 ferries shuttling commuters back and forth for free. Still lots of work to go, I'm not sure when the estimated date of completion is. Kacee came home today from Sue's. She got new shoes on Wednesday. They should hold us until deer season then I'll just pull them and ride barefoot. Here's some pictures of our day.
Saturday we decided to do something different and exciting! People at work had talked about the new Zip Ride at Bromley Mountain. We arrived about 10:30 am and rode the lift up to the top of the mountain. It was a beautiful day, temp's in the 70's, sunny and pleasant with great views. The Zip Line ride is a 4 person ride in which you climb a tower and get harnessed into a seat and go to the bottom 1/2 mile in about a minute....they say you go speeds of 50mph. It was awesome. John and Molly went first with 2 other people, I video taped them and then I went with another group. Molly got me coming down...kind of hard to see as it went so fast. I'll post some standing pictures from the flip also.
Well 2 weeks and counting.....I decided to purchase some lobsters for our yearly lobster dinner at Hannaford's. Molly had to work at 5 so I picked Martha up at 3:30, we had steamers with garlic, butter and white wine for appetizers and Lobster, potato salad, fresh yellow beans and deviled eggs for dinner. It was awesome!
